Fire Department

The Pickens Fire Department's primary function is to save lives and property through fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical services, rescue, and community education. 

Fire prevention services include: routine inspections, code enforcement, education, fire cause and origin investigations, and much more.

Effective October 1, 2014, Pickens Fire Department became the first fire department in Pickens County to add SCDHEC compliant, non-transporting Emergency Medical Services to their response capabilities. This includes providing basic lifesaving interventions, medications, and procedures to people in need.

Fire Chief Chris Elrod has been with the department since 2002. He has been instrumental in the fire department's recent growth. Over the past few years there have been many new additions to the department to include new part-time positions, new equipment, upgraded living quarters, and much more. Most recently, Pickens Fire Department has added a Memorial Garden located in front of the station. This Memorial Garden is a dedication to all members that have served the Pickens Fire Department for 20 years or greater.

Effective September 1, 2015, Pickens Fire Department is an ISO Class 3. This pertains to all locations inside the Pickens City limits.
