City of Pickens Hiring a Codes Compliance Officer – Property Maintenance, Nuisance Abatement, and Stormwater/FOG Oversight

🚨 Job Opening: Codes Compliance Officer 🚨
The City of Pickens is currently accepting applications for a full-time Codes Compliance Officer in the Administration Department.

💼 Position Type: Full-Time
💰 Salary Range: $50,478.24 – $60,273
📍 Reports To: City Administrator or Designee
📋 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

This important role focuses on property maintenance, public nuisances, and environmental code compliance, including oversight of stormwater (MS4) and FOG (Fats, Oils, and Grease) regulations.

Key Responsibilities Include:
✅ Inspecting properties for code violations (overgrowth, debris, abandoned vehicles)
✅ Monitoring construction sites for erosion control and stormwater compliance
✅ Enforcing FOG standards at commercial kitchens and facilities
✅ Supporting public outreach, education, and community cleanup programs
✅ Documenting violations, issuing citations, and appearing at hearings when needed

Preferred Qualifications:
✔️ High school diploma or GED (Associate degree or certification preferred)
✔️ Class 3 law enforcement certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
✔️ Experience in municipal code or environmental compliance
✔️ Knowledge of FOG, MS4, and NPDES permitting
✔️ Valid SC driver’s license and clean driving record

This role involves both office and field work—including inspections in a variety of outdoor conditions.
