Fire Extinguisher Training

Fire extinguishers are great tools that can be used to stop small fires. It is statistically proven that appropriate use of a fire extinguisher in the presence a small fire will save property and prevent potential injuries. We understand that many people have never actually used a fire extinguisher before. In 2013, Pickens Fire Department was awarded a grant to purchase a Bullex Fire Extinguisher Training System. This is the only training system of its' kind in all of Pickens County. This training system utilizes propane to produce live fire in a controlled environment. Real fire extinguishers are then used to extinguish the fire. This allows the trainee to not only learn and understand what to do, but also allows him/her to have a hands-on application. This increases competency and confidence in case of a real-life situation. This is a free training provided by Pickens Fire Department.
